Update – Joint Drug Investigation Cobourg and Port Hope Police

Joint Drug Investigation involving Cobourg Police Service and Port Hope Police Service results in the Execution of a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) Search Warrant in the Town of Cobourg.

The Cobourg Police Service and Port Hope Police Service have executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances act warrant as part of an ongoing enhanced enforcement strategy targeting illegal drug activity affecting our communities and the safety of our citizens.

Over the past several months, the Cobourg Police Service and the Port Hope Police Service Criminal Investigations Bureau have worked together to tackle the sale of narcotics and opioids.

As a result of this partnership, on Tuesday the 10th day of December, 2019, at approximately 7:00 pm, with the assistance of Uniform Officers and Forensic Identification Services, a CDSA Search Warrant was executed at an address on Division Street North in the Town of Cobourg and a quantity of suspected cocaine, fentanyl, weigh scales, packaging and cash was located in the residence and seized.

Two males were arrested outside the residence.

44-year-old Peter GRIEVE of Cobourg was charged with the following offences and held for a bail hearing on Wednesday, December 10th, 2019.
1. Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine – Contrary to Section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. (Joint)
2. Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Fentanyl – Contrary to Section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. (Joint)
3. Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 – Contrary to Section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code.
4. Possession of a Prohibited Weapon – Contrary to Section 91(2) of the Criminal Code.
5. Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Fentanyl – Contrary to Section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
6. Possession of a schedule 1 substance – Cocaine – Contrary to Section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act

35-year-old Adam GABOVIC of Baltimore was charged with the following offences and held for a bail hearing on Wednesday, December 10th, 2019
1. Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine – Contrary to Section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. (Joint)
2. Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Fentanyl – Contrary to Section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. (Joint)
3. Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 – Contrary to Section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code.
4. Possession of a Prohibited Weapon – Contrary to Section 91(2) of the Criminal Code.
5. Possession of a schedule 1 substance –Cocaine – Contrary to Section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act

The Fentanyl and Cocaine seized today has a potential street value of $25,000.00. Also seized was approximately $750 in cash.
