The Halloween Spirit Is Among Us

In Community

Halloween is nearly upon us.

For some it’s a chance to devour candy as parents, for others, we let the kids have the treats.

Some people turn out their lights and don’t participate while others go to extremes for the joy of instilling fear onto others.

With the help of readers, Today’s Northumberland ventured out into the dark world to find, the wild, wacky and outright scary houses.

Sixteen-month old Nash Dudley and his seven-year-old sister Laurel won’t likely see another pumpkin as big as what their grandfather Dave grew at his Clitheroe Road home on the east side of Grafton, north of County Road 2.

Dave’s wife Sandra watches every year as her husband grows special size pumpkins. This year’s crop of one weighed in at 847.8 pounds.

Which is nothing compared to the world record is over 2,000 pounds.

In Cobourg a house on Densmore Road behind Rosewood Estates keeps getting better every year.

With Michael Myers from the Halloween movies, grave stones with “interesting names” and skeleton’s carrying coffins, only stop by – if you dare. On Halloween there may be even animatronics.

A different sort of scene is on the front yard of a home in Cold Springs. A space ship seems to have landed, with a few creatures roaming around it.

On Glen Watford Drive in Cobourg a serious of zombie children and adults which adorn the front yard of the home.

Many houses in the area of the home are also in the “spirit” of Halloween.
