Open House Recruitment At Cobourg Fire Department

The Cobourg Fire Department held a open house on Saturday, September 21, 2019 for anyone interested in joining as a part-time firefighter.

Deputy Chief Gene Thompson said approximately 50 individuals including men and women were at the firehall on Elgin Street during the three hour period.

“We bring them in and run them through the testing portion of what they have to do and try and make them understand the commitment they have to meet.”

Thompson said the fire department tries to give an overview of what they expect from individuals who are interested in joining the fire service.

Cobourg Fire Department is presently looking for two part-time firefighters.

Darren Goodwin was just recently hired in October 2018 demonstrated a number of different areas of firefighting.
