OPP Search for Missing Boater on Rice Lake

(ALNWICK-HALDIMAND TOWNSHIP, ON) – On September 06, 2019, shortly after 9:30 a.m. members of the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to assist in locating an overdue boater on Rice Lake.

The 60-year-old man from Toronto, Ontario failed to return from boating trip and was last seen the day before. A friend searched Rice Lake and located the missing man’s boat with no one around.

OPP marine units from Northumberland County and Peterborough County have been searching the lake. Police also utilized a helicopter from the OPP’s Aviation Services and members from the Underwater Search and Recovery Unit (USRU). There is still no sign of the missing man. Police will continue to search the area.
