Northumberland OPP – Port Hope Man Charged with Impaired

(HAMILTON TOWNSHIP, ON) – Just after 3:00 pm on June 12, 2019 members from the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were notified of a possible impaired driver travelling westbound on Highway 401 west of Cobourg.

A witness observed the grey Nissan sedan stopped on the side of the highway throwing what appeared to be beer cans out of the window. Once the vehicle was back in motion it began to pass other vehicles using the shoulder of the highway.

Officers located and stopped the vehicle on Highway 401 near Theatre Road.

Michael HUSSEY (age 75) of Port Hope, Ontario was arrested charged with:

· Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
· Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg on July 3, 2019.
