Northumberland OPP – Excessive Speeders Charged

Members from the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged two drivers with stunt driving after travelling at excessive speeds on Highway 401.

On May 20, 2019 at approximately 7:00 am Maria PORTILLA (age 34) of Arora, Ontario was stopped and charged by officers after the blue Ford SUV she was driving was measured travelling 172km/h on Highway 401 eastbound just east of Brighton.

On May 21, 2019 just after noon hou r Daniel WILLIAMS (age 27) of Grafton, Ontario was stopped and charged by officers after the blue Dodge pick-truck he was driving was measured travelling 164km/h on Highway 401 eastbound just east of Cobourg.

Both drivers received an immediate 7 day licence suspension and the vehicles they were driving were towed and impounded for 7 days. They are each scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg on July 17, 2019.
