Cobourg Water Tower Out of Service Until October for Upgrades

In Local

The Strathy Road Water Tower will be out of service until October for upgrades.

“While the water tower is an important part of the local distribution system, Lakefront Utility Services Inc. has made appropriate arrangements to maintain adequate water supply for the duration of the project,” said Lakefront Utilities President and CEO Dereck Paul.
“Disruptions to the water supply are not expected. However, customers are asked to please consider limiting water use in the summer months to reduce demand on the system during the construction period.”

The rehabilitation work will include the complete replacement of the interior and exterior coating systems, as well as safety improvements. A scaffolding and hoarding structure will be installed around the tower to complete the coating replacement work.

Planned work will also involve the installation of a hydrodynamic mixing system, electrical upgrades and minor site work. The $2.7 million project has been tendered and awarded to Landmark Municipal Services ULC.
