In Editor Choice, Local

Port Hope Police are being tight lipped about a body in an apartment building on Cavan Street late Wednesday evening.
At approximately 11:30 pm emergency services were dispatched to 50 Cavan Street.
Police aren’t commenting but a tenant who spoke to Today’s Northumberland indicated a man’s body was laying in the hallway of the first floor near the elevator. The tenant who also lives on the first floor said he recognized the man who lives on the fifth floor.
The tenant said he was watching a movie when the deceased man’s son began pounding on his door for help.
The man performed CPR but the victim did not survive.
Four Port Hope Police cruisers lined Cavan Street after Port Hope Fire Department and Northumberland County Paramedics left the scene.
The local coroner waited in the lobby until police brought him to the first floor.
The scene has been secured by police who remain at the scene.
Two people entered the building at approximately 3:20 am with one wearing a police foundations jacket. The pair left the apartment building at 4 am.
Police aren’t commenting if foul play is involved.
OPP Criminal Investigations Branch has been called in to assist Port Hope Police.
Port Hope Police have refused to comment at this point.
Today’s Northumberland will give updates when they become available.
