Northumberland OPP – Serious Collision Closes County Road 45

(NORTHUMBERLAND, ON) – On Saturday January 26, 2019 at approximately 5:45 pm, members of the Northumberland County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and emergency crews attended a serious two vehicle collision on County Road 45 north of Roseneath Landing in Alnwick-Haldimand Township.

A blue Chevrolet and a white Pontiac collided head on near the center line, resulting in both drivers being transported to a local area hospital with varyi ng degrees of injuries. The female driver of the Pontiac was subsequently air lifted to a Toronto area trauma center with critical injuries.

County Road 45 was closed for several hours while OPP members trained in collision reconstruction measured and documented the scene. The cause of the crash remains under investigation. Weather and road conditions may have been a contributing factor.
