Discipline Hearing For Port Hope Police Officer Set For Next Week

A Port Hope Police officer will face a discipline hearing next week involving numerous Police Service Act charges.
Constable JoeAnn Kortman has been suspended with pay for over two years from the Port Hope Police Service.
Kortman was suspended in November 2016 is facing 20 charges under the Police Services Act including deceit, insubordination, breach of confidence, discreditable conduct and neglect of duty.
Police issued a press release last year stating in June 2016, “Chief’s Complaint was made under the provisions of the Police Services Act and an investigation was undertaken.”
The release stated, “after being reviewed by the Chief a number of Code of Conduct violations were substantiated.”
The hearing is set to take place on December 11, 12 and 13, 2018 at the Comfort Inn in Port Hope at 10 a.m.
