Alderville First Nation Remembrance Ceremony

Alderville First Nation held their annual Remembrance ceremony on Sunday, November 5, 2018.
Lead by the Cobourg Legion Pipes and Drums, dignitaries, veterans and members of the community paraded from the community centre along County Road 45 to the cenotaph which was unveiled in 1927 to honour the 33 Alderville men who enlisted for service during the Great War including the nine who paid the ultimate sacrifice.
It also commemorates the contributions made by Alderville during WW11, Korea, and peacetime.
Concert Band of Cobourg Chris Devlin played the Last Post during the ceremony which was followed by Cobourg Legion Pipes and Drum Major Mary Ito playing a Lament.
Alderville First Nation councillor Dave Simpson read each name of a fallen soldier from the community who served before a number of wreathes were placed at the cenotaph.
