Durham Police – Male Airlifted after Vehicle Collides with Horse

An Oshawa man remains in hospital with serious injuries after his vehicle collided with a horse, which had escaped its enclosure near Enniskillen early this morning. 

On Tuesday, August 28, 2018 at approximately 2:45 a.m., a 62-year-old motorist was travelling west on Concession Road 7 in Clarington. His 2007 Nissan vehicle struck a horse, one of several that had escaped their enclosure. The male suffered a head injury and serious internal trauma. He was driven to the Oshawa airport and then airlifted to a Toronto trauma centre for treatment.

The animal suffered severe injuries and had to be put down by a local veterinarian. The roadway was closed for several hours for the investigation. The driver’s injuries are not life-threatening.
