Port Hope Resident Receives Provincial Award

In Community, Local

(Port Hope) Community Care Northumberland (CCN) is pleased to announce that Selena Forsyth of Port Hope has been named one of the 2018 June Callwood Circle of Outstanding Volunteers Award recipients.

In 1994, the Hospice Association of Ontario, now Hospice Palliative Care Ontario (HPC0), established the June Callwood Award to acknowledge and thank outstanding hospice volunteers throughout Ontario.  The award was named for the late June Callwood, volunteer, founder of Casey House Hospice, community activist, author and recipient of the Order of Canada.  June was the first recipient of this award in 1995 and since then over 600 inductees have received this award.

“Selena is a fervent, tenacious Hospice volunteer with a steadfast calling to ensure exceptional hospice care exists for all in Northumberland County.  For over a decade, she has given everything she has to give in championing the hospice cause,” said Trish Baird– Executive Director of CCN.  “She has served many roles in the organization; a compassionate client volunteer; a fundraiser extraordinaire, particularly with Hike for Hospice, a dedicated leader on the Board of Directors and Advisory Chair; and a spirted presenter and educator.”

“Volunteers like Selena are an essential element to the delivery of our visiting Hospice Services program within Northumberland County,” added Baird.  “It is an honour to congratulate Selena for her outstanding volunteer efforts and her passion for Hospice services in our region.”
