(NORTHUMBERLAND, ON) – The Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) dealt with 164 incidents this past week, here are some examples:

July 27

  • Police responded to family dispute just before 9 p.m. in the Municipality of Brighton ON. A male party who was intoxicated was removed from the location without incident.
  • Officers attended an address in Campbellford, ON for reports of an ongoing family dispute. As a result of the investigation a 59 year old man from the Municipality of Trent hills was arrested and charged with uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm and uttering threats to damage property. The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
  • Police responded to reports of four or five cows on the highway on County Road 18 in Alnwick-Haldimand Township. Officers located the owner and the cows were returned home without incident.
  • A 35 foot home built boat trailer was reported stolen from an address on County Road 30 in the Municipality of Trent Hills south of Campbellford ON. Attached to the trailer was an Ontario licence plate H5487X. The investigation is continuing.*

July 28

  •  Police responded to a noise complaint in regards to loud music that a neighbour claims was being amplified on Covert Hill Road in Alnwick- Haldimand Township. Police attended several times and could not hear anything that would cause police to be called. A wedding was taking place but police found it to be at a completely acceptable volume level. All parties were spoken to.
  • Officers were called to the area of Sidey Drive in Hamilton Township regarding two dogs that appear to be vicious in nature. Several neighbours were canvassed and voiced their concerns for the safety of their children. The owner of the dogs has been spoken to several times in the past. Animal control to be contacted.

 

July 29

  •  Just before 9 a.m. an officer was flagged down on a road in Cramahe Township by a male advising his 15 year old daughter had left the residence sometime throughout the night and he was unable to locate her. The female was located and transported back to her residence. Advice was provided to the family.
  •  Just after midnight Northumberland OPP with the assistance of Quinte West OPP attended at address in the south east end of Brighton, ON for a report of an intoxicated male who was being aggressive and needed to be removed from the location. Offices arrived on scene where a wedding was taking place; the intoxicated male who was the grooms’ brother was calm upon arrival and agreed to stay in his room for the remainder of the celebration.
  • Officers were conducting an investigation in relation to a break and enter that took them to an address in the Municipality of Trent Hills. Police recovered two licence plates that were reported stolen to Peterborough Police on July 20, 2018. The person in possession of the plates had purchased them and were unaware they were stolen.*

Northumberland OPP officers investigated 11 accidental 911 calls, 17 motor vehicle collisions, and 19 traffic related complaints.

*Northumberland OPP is asking for the public’s assistance with these ongoing investigations and would ask that anyone with information on these crimes call their nearest OPP detachment.
