The Town of Cobourg announces the launch of its election website in advance of this fall’s municipal election.
By visiting www.votecobourg.ca, citizens can get one-stop shopping for all a voter needs to know from a responsive, intuitive site.
A certified list of candidates is now posted, with Deputy Mayor John Henderson acclaimed as mayor. Councillor Suzanne Seguin will face off against Randy Curtis for deputy mayor, and nine candidates are running for five council seats – incumbents Brian Darling and Aaron Burchat, as well as Adam Bureau, Johnny Percolides, former councillor Miriam Mutton, Travis Hoover, Nicole Beatty, Karl Vom Dorff and Emily Chorley.
Users can also find information on voting, access policies and procedures, view voting results and even register as a third-party advertiser.
“As a public-service office, it’s important that we provide citizens with all the information they require about voting in the upcoming municipal elections,” municipal clerk Brent Larmer said in the press release.
“With the launch of our new votecobourg.ca elections website, we are not only providing voter information readily, but also ensuring that it’s accessible and responsive to citizens who use a tablet or phone.”
Both the legislative-services and communications department worked together to ensure this portal meets the growing needs of citizens who now rely on their mobile devices for election information. The website was designed with a responsive layout for smart phones and tablets that can be viewed across the spectrum of devices.
