Northumberland OPP – Oshawa Man Charged With Drug Related Offences

(NORTHUMBERLAND, ON) – On July 4, 2018 just before 8:30 p.m. an officer with the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was conducting a RIDE program on County Road 45 in Alnwick-Haldimand Township.

An officer conducted a traffic stop on a silver sedan that was observed making a u turn just meters away from the RIDE check point. The officer observed evidence of illegal drugs in the vehicle resulting in both occupants being arrested. The officer began an investigation under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

Blane Meringer (age21) from Oshawa, Ontario:

– Possession of a Schedule II Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking under 3 kg
– Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime under $5000

The accused were released and are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg on August 8, 2018.
