Extending The Life Of Roads In Alnwick/Haldimand Township

A number of roads in Alnwick/Haldimand Township are getting an extra lifespan by trying a new procedure.
Jeff Convey, Asphalt Consultant and Director of Sales with Superior Road Products said paving rejuvenation company extends the life of roads by up to six to seven years..
“We extend the life of the roads. It costs just over $15,000 a kilometre based on a seven metre wide road that is one kilometre long.”
Convey said traditionally to re-pave a road it would cost upwards of $100,000
The process basically works usling a emulsion based product the company has a proprietary ownership of for eastern Canada they spray the emulsion, wait for it to seep into the road, once it solidifies we spray it with a sand.
It roughly takes them an hour to do a kilometre.
On Tuesday, July 10, 2018 the company was working on the Lakeshore Road area by Fox Road south of Grafton
