Cobourg, ON – April 18, 2018 –  The Ontario Agri-Food Venture Centre (OAFVC) has been recognized as a ‘key player’ in the agriculture and agri-food value chain in this region with a $15,000 donation from Farm Credit
Canada (FCC). Officials presented the donation from the Community
Investment Fund at today’s meeting of Northumberland County Council.

“On behalf of FCC, we are proud to formally thank Northumberland County Council and staff for their investment in, and commitment to, the Ontario Agri-Food Venture Centre,” states Farm FCC Relationship Manager Karl McLaren. “This facility is doing incredible work to support agriculture and agri-food
entrepreneurs to develop, test and enhance their products. It is enabling new opportunities for business growth, supporting Canadian agriculture in our rural communities. We are pleased to be part of these efforts with this
donation.”

This investment will help the OAFVC to further expand on the important work celebrated by the FCC. Funds will be used to purchase new ‘in-demand’ equipment that will help local entrepreneurs grow and thrive. The ‘multi-head filler line’ will make it possible for users to fill several containers at once of
salad dressings, hot sauces, vinegars, oils and other liquid-based products, improving production. Several OAFVC clients are already anxiously
anticipating the opportunity to make use of this technology.

“We have so many talented, innovative agriculture and agri-food
entrepreneurs in Northumberland and throughout the region who are ready to get their products to market and just need some equipment and operations expertise to get there. That is where the OAFVC comes in,” indicates County Warden Mark Lovshin. “Particularly in more rural communities like ours,
supporting the success of small businesses contributes to the economic health and well-being of the entire community. Council is proud of the work being done at the OAFVC, and we sincerely thank Farm Credit Canada for recognizing and advancing this work with their donation today.”
