Several Motor Vehicle Collisions Over The Weekend – Northumberland OPP

In Police Blotter

(NORTHUMBERLAND, ON) -From Friday, April 13, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. to Monday, April 16, 2018 at 8:00 a.m. members of the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a total of fifty-three (53) motor vehicle collisions, the majority of which occurred on Highway 401 (49). No serious injuries were reported and mainly involved single motor vehicles losing control due in part to the freezing rain conditions that persisted over the past several days.

Collision of note: At 3:00 a.m. this morning police responded to a report of a jack-knifed tractor trailer in the westbound lanes of Highway 401 just west of County Road 30 (Exit 509). The truck struck the centre median causing undetermined damages. The driver was not injured nor were any other vehicles involved. The westbound lanes were closed for a period of time with some traffic getting through on the shoulder. All lanes re-opened shortly before 9:00 a.m.
