“Facility-Wide Influenza A Outbreak declared for Campbellford Memorial Hospital (CMH)”

In Editor Choice, Local, News

Campbellford Memorial Hospital, in consultation with HKPR Public Health, has now declared a facility-wide influenza A (Respiratory) outbreak.
Effective immediately the Emergency Department will be closed with the exception of Life and Limb threatening illnesses.
Out-Patient services and Clinic appointment visits remain open (including Mental Health services).
As a result of this declaration, we recommend visitor restrictions to one patient per visit, effective immediately, and will continue for the duration of the outbreak.
The symptoms for this illness include fever, sore throat, cough, body aches, headache, chest and/or nasal congestion.
Visitors should avoid the first floor unit, especially if they feel ill or have a compromised immune system.
CMH expects all staff and visitors to be diligent in practicing infection prevention and control practices, including hand hygiene and cough etiquette, when visiting the hospital at any time.
Frequent hand washing, particularly before and after patient contact, is mandatory and vital to reducing healthcare associated infections.
Updates will be provided as information changes.

In Cobourg, Northumberland Hills Hospital Communications officer Jennifer Gillard said, “NHH is not in outbreak.”
