OPP Investigating Solar Panel Theft – Colborne

In Crime, Editor Choice, Local

Northumberland OPP are investigating the theft of a number of solar panels sometime over the weekend.
Suspects cut a hole in a fence along Ontario Street in Colborne just south of the railway tracks at a solar farm being constructed.
A number of solar panels were taken, but media relations officer Northumberland OPP Constable Steve Bates said the “investigation is in its infancy.”
A forensic identification officer spent most of Monday at the scene photographing evidence including tire marks.
A number of panels were discovered outside the property in a ditch. It’s unknown how many others were taken.
The OPP Community Street Crime Unit is assisting with the investigation.
