The Ministry of Labour is investigating after an industrial accident in Cobourg

A representative from the MOL told Today’s Northumberland that on February 15, the MOL was notified of a injury that occurred at Belden CDT Canada Inc.

A MOL inspector attended the scene and on February 16, a MOL inspector and ministry engineer returned to the scene to continue the investigation.

Two orders were issued to the employer by the Ministry of Labour.

· For guarding on a piece of equipment; and

· A stop work order until the above order is complied with

The Ministry of Labour is continuing their investigation.

Reports indicate the woman was transferred to Northumberland Hills Hospital with a severe injury to her hand.

She was later airlifted to a Toronto hospital, but reports indicate the hand had to be amputated.
