The ground-breaking for Applewood Meadows in Brighton Friday has launched what Sydney Fairman described as a place where families find their dream home, businesses flourish and the community succeeds.
“A place where life begins at home,” the RE/MAX Broker and Vice-President of Marketing and Sales for North Sails Developments said.
She described the initiative as “a partnership with Mistral Land Development, an extension of Brighton Retirement Living, the soon-to-be Brighton Active Living, Orchard Gate and our company’s commitment to innovation, excellence and community engagement.
“It is about creating jobs, driving economic growth and enhancing the quality of life for the people who will live and work here.”
Expanding on the immediate work at hand, Fairman said that this is a first phase of the North Sails project, and 35 homes are planned for this initial stage.
“This particular phase is an extension of the Orchard Gate subdivision, but what has happened is, we changed builders. It’s important for the community to know it’s the same developer, a new local builder, and a fresh concept,” she said.
These 35 homes are a mix of townhouses, semi-detached homes, bungalows, bungalofts and two-storey homes with walk-out basements – and some built slab-on-grade for those who don’t want a basement.
Fairman said that what sets her team apart is the synergy of having the expertise – builder, architect, sales team – in-house. The difference it makes was evident right from their first purchaser, who wanted a bungalow with no basement.
“We were able to change her foundation and build her home customized to her needs, making the changes within minutes,” she recalled.
“If someone wants something specific, we have the synergy in-house to make the changes very quickly and very economically.”
Another thing she is proud of is that her team is truly local.
Fairman, who grew up in Trenton, married a man who was born and raised in Brighton (grandson of a former Applefest Queen, actually).
“Everybody in our group either grew up in Brighton, lives in Brighton, or has lived in Brighton at some point,” she said.
“For the most part, everybody is in Northumberland County. We all live and work here. Our children go to school and play sports here. Our grandparents are here. Every single person is local – you’ll see them at the arena, the school functions. We are all very invested in our community”.
Price points start at $699,900, which she said is less than the average price of a resale home in Northumberland County right now.
Fairman acknowledged the Municipality of Brighton councillors and staff in attendance at the ground-breaking for working with her team to bring their vision to life.
“None of this would be possible without the incredible collaboration among our team, our contractors, our architects, our stakeholders and local government officials,” she said.
“Applewood Meadows is a testament to what can be achieved when talented teams come together with a shared vision.”
