Packed Lions Centre for Cobourg Police Service Community Meeting to Hear Concerns from the Community

In Editor Choice, Local, Police Blotter

In the end moving the Cobourg Police Service Community meeting to the Lions Club Community Centre was the right thing to do.

With over 260 people attending, it was the only place that could hold that size crowd.

Cobourg Police Chief Paul VandeGraaf held the meeting after the police service, Police Services Board and members of Town Council have been inundated with e-mails and concerns regarding the safety of the community and what has recently been taking place with the unsanctioned overdose prevention tents held every Friday from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.

VandeGraaf spoke for approximately 20-minutes outlining the crime data for the community and stating it is a safe town.

After, a short break, people either wrote questions if they felt uncomfortable, or stepped up to the microphone to ask questions.

Rather than outline each question, all the questions and answers have been uploaded to video.
