Cobourg Police – Cobourg Man Observed on Video Removing Bicycle, Charged with Break and Enter, Theft Under $5,000, Possession of Stolen Property and Fail To Comply (No Name Released)

Police have arrested and charged a man with theft after being captured on video surveillance footage.

On Sunday, August 21, 2022, police were called to a business in the west end of Cobourg for a report of theft.

Staff reported that they attended the business for an alarm just after midnight. Upon reviewing video footage, staff observed an individual removing a bicycle from the business.

Police located the individual still in possession of the stolen bicycle. As a result of the police investigation, 27-year-old Cobourg man was arrested and charged with the following offences:

1. Break and Enter commit, contrary to section 348(1)(b) of the Criminal Code

2. Theft under $5,000, contrary to section 334(b) of the Criminal Code

3. Possess stolen property under $5,000, contrary to section 355(b) of the Criminal Code

4. Two counts of Fail to comply with probation contrary to section 733.1(1) of the Criminal Code

The accused was held for a show cause hearing scheduled for August 22, 2022
