In City Hall, Local

On Wednesday, July 20, 2022, Northumberland County released its 2021 Annual Financial Report, detailing the advancement of strategic priorities and related financial highlights, as well as the full audited financial statements, for the fiscal year ending December 31, 2021.

“The Annual Report is an important tool for ensuring accountability and transparency in how the County is using tax dollars and acquired funding to deliver essential services, infrastructure and programming to residents and businesses throughout Northumberland,” states CAO Jennifer Moore. “In 2021, the County made significant strides in advancing the key priorities outlined in our Strategic Plan and annual business plans, while continuing to adapt our programs and service delivery to meet the needs of our community throughout the pandemic.”

The County’s 188.4 million dollar budget in 2021 included 75.3 million dollars towards capital investments that are supporting vital infrastructure in our community, as well as 106.3 million dollars towards core service delivery and 6.8 million dollars for reserves towards the future financing of identified strategic initiatives and infrastructure needs.

Capital investments supported by this budget included major projects such as the redevelopment of the Golden Plough Lodge & Northumberland County Archives and Museum facility and the redevelopment of Elgin Park community housing in Cobourg, as well as fleet and equipment supporting the delivery of essential services such as emergency services, road construction and maintenance, and waste management.

“We are pleased to share this detailed report with our community, which highlights the recent efforts of Council and staff to deliver innovative, fiscally responsible and resident-focused services that will meet the needs of our community, now and into the future,” states County Warden Bob Crate. “This report is an important resource for residents, detailing priorities and progress during the previous fiscal year, and looking forward to initiatives underway in 2022.”

The 2021 Annual Report is available on the County website at Northumberland.ca/AnnualReport.
