Update – Northumberland OPP – Name of Accused and Deceased Passenger in Fatal Collision

On March 19th 2022, at approximately 1:30 a.m., members from the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a fatal collision involving a single motor vehicle, in the area of Wright Rd on County Rd 10 in Road in Port Hope.

As a result of the collision, Daniel Nicholas THOMSON (age 32) of Campbellcroft was pronounced deceased at the scene of the collision.

The vehicle driver Mathieu RICHARD (age 31) of Whitby has been charged with:

  • Impaired Operation causing death CC 320.14(3)

The accused is scheduled to attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg on the 6th of April 2022.
