Two Vehicle Collision Highway 401 East of Cobourg

There were no serious injuries after two vehicles collided on Highway 401, east of Cobourg on Tuesday, July 13, 2021.

At approximately 10:30 p.m. emergency services including Northumberland OPP, Alnwick/Haldimand Township Fire Department and Northumberland County Paramedics responded to a two vehicle collision east of County Road 45 in the westbound lanes of Highway 401.

One vehicle was up against the median wall and the other vehicle was on its roof in the ditch.

There was the possibility the driver was trapped in his overturned vehicle, but he had managed to climb out before emergency services arrived.

Both drivers did not require medical attention.

Northumberland OPP said one of the vehicles ran into the back of the other causing the collision.

No word on charges.
