Fox On The Run On Cobourg Beach

In Local

People are worried about the health of a fox that is regularly seen in Victoria Park and beach in Cobourg.

On June 7, 2021, Today’s Northumberland had several reports from people about the fox in the park and along the beach area.

At approximately 6:30 p.m. the fox was around the blue accessibility mat on the beach.

Kevin Low, and his girlfriend Sarah came to enjoy the beach on Monday evening, but when he saw the fox on the beach he tried calling authorities for help.

“We called Sandy Pines Wildlife to try and get somebody down here and nobody would. The municipality won’t, the cops won’t do anything, animal control won’t do anything.”

After going home to grab a small dog cage and towel they attempted to capture it for approximately three hours.

Low and his girlfriend tried to coax the fox with food into a cage several times, but it wouldn’t take the bait.

“Unfortunately it got away.”

The fox doesn’t appear healthy, “it looks like it got hit by a car or mange.

“It definitely doesn’t belong on the beach. There needs to be a trap set up or something. Get it out of the public and away from kids.”

“You just don’t know what it has.”
