A Port Hope woman is pleading that her seven-foot long albino boa constrictor is returned home after going missing last week.

Leeann Mitchell spoke to Today’s Northumberland about her domesticated snake named Pandora going missing from The Towers (formerly Greenwood Towers) on Peter Street in Port Hope sometime during last Thursday, June 3, 2021 or early Friday morning.

“I just want her home,” said an emotional Mitchell as she sits outside her apartment waiting for any word.

Along with Pandora, Mitchell also has a Bulldog named Anthony and a cat named Geneva.

Mitchell said her boa constrictor is very domesticated with her other two pets.

With having approximately 50-85 pounds of items on top of the aquarium where the snake is housed, Mitchell wondered if it got out on her own, or was stolen.

With the snake being worth approximately $900 it’s a possibility Pandora was stolen.

If she got out on her own, Mitchell said she’s just being “sassy.”

“She’ll climb in somewhere and know I’m going to get her and it’s no big deal. This time she’s no where to be found.”

At this point she really isn’t sure what happened to Pandora, but she’s sure the boa constrictor didn’t go down the toilet because she isn’t amphibious.

If she is lose, nights are cold enough for her that she could die.

Mitchell assures the public Pandora is not a danger.

“You might want to fear a robin pecking you before she’ll do anything.”

Port Hope Police Inspector Katie Andrews if people do spot the snake call 9-1-1 or animal control.

“The snake if anything is going to be as scared as you are.”

Andrews said although there has been numerous reports of the snake being spotted nothing has been substantiated.

Andrews adds there is no by-laws in town regarding owning exotic animals/pets.
