In Editor Choice, Police Blotter

Three people were taken into custody during a dramatic gun-point takedown by police in Cobourg shortly before 6 p.m. on Thursday, March 25, 2021.

The gunpoint takedown happened at the intersection of Fraser Court and Rayner Road directly across from Terry Fox Public School.

Daycare Students were still at the school and witnessed the takedown happen with the sounds of screeching tires heard in the distance from police blocking the vehicle in.

Police vehicles boxed in the PT Cruiser that was heading north on Fraser Court.

One police vehicle made contact with the front bumper of the PT Cruiser.

With guns drawn police ordered the three occupants (two men and one woman) from the vehicle and placed them into handcuffs.

At this point, police will only say it is a joint investigation between Cobourg and Port Hope Criminal Investigations Bureau.

All the people were transported to the Cobourg Police Station and the vehicle was sealed with police tape and towed from the scene to the police station to be searched.
