Quinn’s Blooms and Greenery “Tulips for Tummies” Campaign

In Local, Upcoming Events

At Quinn’s Blooms and Greenery they believe that everyone deserves to live with food security and to know they do not have to go through the day hungry. That’s why Quinn’s is so excited to share about our “Tulips for Tummies” campaign starting February 17th. A portion of the proceeds from our special tulip arrangements will be donated to Local Food for Local Good.

Local Food for Local Good’s At-Home Learners Student Nutrition Program provides fresh food and healthy snacks for school-aged children and youth who are registered in virtual learning in Northumberland County during the pandemic. The goal of the program is to support students who may otherwise be missing out on the daily physical student nutrition options and access to food.

Local Food for Local Good is a nationally incorporated non-profit organization and registered Canadian charity that is dedicated to coordinating local, sustainable food systems and advocating for the accessibility and affordability of healthy food for everyone. The Tulips for Tummies campaign is specifically supporting the At-home Learners Student Nutrition Program. For more information on the charity and their programs you can find them at www.localfoodforlocalgood.ca.

This 5 week campaign is spearheaded by Julie Powell the owner of Quinn’s Blooms and Greenery. Although the love of flowers has led her to owning a flower shop, Julie took an interest in food security while completing her honours degree in International Development Studies, completing field work in Ghana and a food security study of the support systems in Haliburton ON. Having received a Civic Award for supporting foodbanks with donations from the local community gardening program Julie has always looked for ways to support the community and those who experience insecurity.

Tulip bouquets are available daily for pre-ordered pick up or contactless delivery. The bouquets start at $15.00 each. For more information or to order you can visit www.quinnsblooms.com or call the store during opening hours 905-372-6642.
