The father whose children were in a devastating crash last week updated his Facebook status with a note on Monday, December 7, 2020.
Last week two of Brendan and Jennifer’s Kerin’s children were involved in a horrific accident that claimed the life of his 12-year-old son Cormac.
Their daughter 10-year-old daughter Shea was given a police escort from the scene to Northumberland Hills Hospital and airlifted to Sick Children’s Hospital where she remains in critical condition.
Shortly after 6 p.m. Kerin said it might be a “Christmas Miracle” for his family and the community after his daughter had her third surgery to reattach her spine and skull.
Kerin said “it was a successful,” nine hour surgery.
“Her spinal cord is intact — it is not damaged. With this kind of injury, it usually is damaged, if not worse.”
“She is responding to stimuli from doctors. She has opened her eyes several times in the past few days and moved her toes.”
Kerin said, “Shea is giving much hope and is surprising everyone.”
“Shea is being Shea and building quite a fan club in short order with the doctors and nurses.”
“Your prayers, support and love, are creating a miracle for our family. We are overwhelmed by your support and are grateful to be part of such a fantastic and loving community.”
The message is signed by Brendan, Jennifer and family.
