Ever Wonder What Happens To Those Boulevard Advertising Signs in Cobourg?

In Local

At times they seem to be everywhere. Then a day or two later they are gone. But what happens to them?

Today’s Northumberland wanted to find out.

At times the boulevards in town seem to be besieged by the signs.

They certainly aren’t heritage and most haven’t gone through the proper process to be where they are.

Town staff say over the last few days they’ve taken nearly 30 of them off the streets.

The signs are then taken to the Public Works Yard at Northam Industrial Park.

The plastic and metal is removed from each and placed in recycling containers for disposal.

People can also be charged under the by-law.

For anyone who wishes to post signs along boulevards in Cobourg contact the Municipal Clerk’s office.
