City of Kawartha Lakes OPP – Two People Charged After Cabin Cruiser Runs Aground

Two Lindsay residents face multiple charges after the vessel they were operating ran aground near a residence on Leslie Frost Lane.

On September 3, 2020, just after midnight, officers from the City of Kawartha Lakes detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) attended the area after a resident observed a 33 foot cabin cruiser vessel run aground and strike a dock.

The ensuing investigation indicated that two persons were on board at the time of the incident. Further investigation revealed the presence of fentanyl, cocaine and cannabis.

Peter Jackman, 53 years of age is charged with the following offences:
Possession of a schedule I substance for trafficking – cocaine, contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA)
Possession of a schedule I substance for trafficking – opioid, other than heroin, contrary to the CDSA
Possession property obtained by crime under $5000, in Canada, contrary to the Criminal Code
Fail to comply with probation order, contrary to the Criminal Code
Fail to comply with release order – other than to attend court, contrary to the Criminal Code
Possession for t he purpose of distributing, contrary to the Cannabis Act
The accused was held for a bail hearing and appeared in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay on September 3, 2020.

Katelynn Keeler, 33 years of age, was charged with the following offences:
Possession of a schedule I substance for trafficking – cocaine, contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) Possession of a schedule I substance for trafficking – opioid, other than heroin, contrary to the CDSA
Possession property obtained by crime under $5000, in Canada, contrary to the Criminal Code
Possession for the purpose of distributing, contrary to the Cannabis Act

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay on December 3, 2020.
