Kitten Has A Liking For Vehicles At Northumberland Mall

In Editor Choice, Local

A kitten seemed to have a liking for cars at Northumberland Mall on Canada Day after refusing to budge from two vehicles.

It was only after some “coaxing” the feline was gently removed from the engine area.

The owner of the vehicle believes the kitten was in the engine area when he started out from his home in Brighton on Wednesday morning.

Shortly after going into Dollarama, people heard the cries of the kitten and notified him and then called 9-1-1.

Numerous people became involved in the rescue including members of the Cobourg Fire Department and Municipal Animal Services.

After approximately 40 minutes of trying to budge the cat from the engine of one vehicle, it darted to the engine of another vehicle two cars away.

The rescuers never gave up as they could hear the loud cries of the kitten. Approximately 20 minutes later a Municipal Animal Services employee grabbed the cat and quickly put it in a cage.

The crowd cheered and the cat was taken away to be checked over and likely put up for adoption
