Legion Village In Cobourg Dancing Away The COVID-19 Blues

In Editor Choice, Local

Staff at the Cobourg Legion Village are putting smiles on the residents faces during the COVID-19 crisis.

Legion Village has been classified as a long-term care facility by the Ministry of Health for the COVID-19 crisis.

It has 220 seniors and everyday for the last few days staff have met outside sharply at 10:45 a.m. to dance away the blues and lift the spirit of both staff and residents.

Executive Director Sherry Gibson said every day residents come to their windows or dance on the balconies as music is played in the courtyard and staff dance.

“It’s been awfully stressful on the residents and staff to be restricted in their movements. We’re doing our best to keep the virus out so we thought we’d spread some joy outside.”

Gibson said teamwork is very important and during the stressful times it’s nice to see the smiles on residents and staff.
