Peterborough Police Traffic Services Unit Release

In Police Blotter

The Peterborough Police Service Traffic Services Unit is continuing with its monthly targeted enforcement and education initiative.

In May the Traffic Services Unit is participating in and promoting the Canada Safety Council (CSC) National Road Safety Week running from May 15-21, 2018 with the final day of the campaign coinciding with Victoria Day Monday. The week will focus on impaired driving.

“With the success we experienced with the mobile RIDE program our Traffic Services Unit members will be adjusting their shifts in May to allow for directed mobile impaired driving detection during peak impaired driving times,” explains Traffic Services Unit Sergeant Peter Sejrup. In addition to this week-long initiative the Unit will be continuing April’s school zone enforcement and education initiative.

“In April we surpassed our expectations laying over 50 charges for violations against school buses and crossing guards,” says Sgt. Sejrup.

“This indicates that the issue requires further direct attention as we approach the final few weeks of the school year.”
