Cobourg Police Say Driver Error Primarily Responsible For Three Collisions On Wednesday

In Police Blotter

Two people were taken to hospital following a collision on Division Street at Veronica Street in Cobourg on Wednesday, January 15, 2020.

Emergency services were called at approximately 3:19 p.m.

It appears that the vehicles were travelling southbound on Division Street and one vehicle rear-ended another, which was forced into the third vehicle.

Retired Port Hope firefighter Mike Trotter saw flames coming from the engine compartment of one of the vehicles and quickly ran into a nearby restaurant to grab a fire extinguisher.

Trotter doused the flames before fire crews arrived.

Two people were transported to hospital with minor injuries.

It’s the third accident emergency services have attended in Cobourg on Wednesday.

Police say the primary cause of the collisions were driver inattention.

No word on charges.
