Cape Rescue Crew Thanked for Support Throughout 2019 from 424 Search and Rescue Squadron

In Editor Choice, Local

Members of the Canadian Coast Guard crew Cape Rescue received a special visit on Wednesday, November 27, 2019 in Cobourg.

Members of 424 Search and Rescue Squadron from CFB Trenton stopped by in a Griffon helicopter to present the crews of the Cape Rescue with a plaque of appreciation.

Members of 424 Squadron regularly practice with members of the Cape Rescue throughout the year.

Today’s Northumberland has highlighted different scenarios including lowering and hoisting Search and Rescue Technicians (SARTECS) from the Cape Rescue.

The plaque read, “Presented to Coast Guard Station – Cobourg. In appreciation for the extraordinary support provided as our trusted partners in Search and Rescue during the 2019 season. Your dedication and willingness to train with us is much appreciated and a crucial component of our Squadron’s success. Thank you from all of us at 424 Tiger Squadron.”

After the ceremony, members of the crew were invited for a ride aboard the helicopter to give them a different perspective of Lake Ontario.

The season wraps up for the Cape Rescue on December 9, 2019 and they will be returning next season at the end of March, 2020.
