Alnwick/Haldimand Township Fire Chief Terminated

In Editor Choice, Local

EXCLUSIVE – Today’s Northumberland has learned the Alnwick/Haldimand Fire Chief has been terminated from his position.
Kyle Wood had only been Chief of the department for nine days when he was released.
“Council decided we would be best if we move in a different direction,” said Mayor John Logel.
On his second day as Chief, Wood spoke to Today’s Northumberland and said it was his dream to become Chief.
Wood was released from his duties after being called to the Municipal Offices in Grafton on Monday, March 5, 2018.
“It was a council decision that was best for the municipality.”
Logel said council will be meeting on Tuesday to decide how they will be going forward, but until then, the Deputy Chief will be interim Chief.
Reached for comment Wood stated, “it’s unfortunate that before today, nothing was brought to my attention.”
“I’m unsure how town council want to go in another direction, as today was only my second day without the former interim chief and the direction of the fire department was never discussed with myself by council.”
