In Police Blotter

Mississauga, ON (1 March, 2018) —

The Director of the Special Investigations Unit, Tony Loparco, has determined there are no reasonable grounds to lay criminal charges against a Durham Regional Police Service officer in relation to the death of a 35-year-old man in January of 2017. The man had been a passenger in a vehicle that was being investigated in relation to a theft. Police pulled the vehicle over on Highway 35/115, and while the driver was being arrested, the passenger exited the vehicle and fled. The man ran onto the highway and was struck by a pick-up truck.
