Suspect Charged Twice In Month of February

Two different press releases concerning the same suspect. The release 26 days apart. In the first one the suspect is held for a bail hearing.  In the second the suspect is released on a Promise To Appear.  Note: these charges are not proven and the suspect is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Subject: Wanted Male Arrested on Robbery Warrant

On Saturday, January 20th, 2018, Cobourg Police investigated a robbery at the Walmart located at 73 Strathy Road, Cobourg. Officers were able to identify Peter James Munro as the suspect after viewing video surveillance from the store. A warrant in the first was obtained.

On Wednesday January 31, 2018 members of the Port Hope Police Service arrested 27 year old Peter James Munro on an outstanding arrest warrant for robbery. Munro was held for a Bail Hearing on Thursday, February 1st, 2018.

Subject: Male arrested for Theft and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime

At 11:20am on Monday February 27th, Officers from the Cobourg Police Service responded to a call at Northumberland Mall located at 1111 Elgin Street West in the town of Cobourg regarding a man stealing clothing.
Upon arrival police located the male matching the description provided by store employees in the area of the Northumberland Mall. The male was wearing the stolen clothing with security tags still attached. As a result of the investigation, Peter James (PJ) MUNRO, 27 years of age from Cobourg is charged with the following offences:

Theft under $5000 contrary to section 334(b) of the Criminal Code

Possession of Property Obtained by Crime contrary to section 355(b) of the Criminal Code

Peter James MUNRO was released on a Promise to Appear with conditions for a later court date. Any questions may be directed to the Cobourg Police Service by calling 905-372-6821.
