Security Guard Gone and Cobourg’s Harbourfront Rink Washrooms Locked – For Now

In Local

As of April 1, 2026, the washrooms at Rotary Harbourfront Rink in Cobourg are now closed.

The outdoor rink had already shut down on March 18 due to fluctuating temperatures and poor ice conditions.

Despite the closure, a security guard had been stationed inside the building from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. for two weeks, essentially watching the ice melt.

Even though exterior doors were installed at a cost of thousands in 2025 to allow washroom access without entering the foyer, these doors also remain locked but a sign on the doors stated – “Washroom Temporarily Closed.”
