Durham Regional Police – Five Arrested After $2 Million Amazon Theft & Fraud Investigation in Ajax

Three males and two females are facing charges after a $2 million Amazon theft and fraud investigation in Ajax.

In November 2025, members of the Financial Crimes Unit (FCU) began an investigation into two employees of the Amazon Fulfillment Centre located at 789 Salem Road. Investigators were contacted by Amazon Loss Prevention after it was alleged that two employees were responsible for the theft of approximately $2 million in merchandise over a two-year period.

On Monday, December 15, 2025, as a result of a collaborative investigation involving the Amazon Loss Prevention Team, investigators from the FCU took two employees into custody before executing a search warrant at a residence in Scarborough. Three additional suspects were located and taken into custody during the search warrant. As a result, police seized over $250,000 in high-end electronics and $50,000 in Canadian Currency.

Mehul Baldevbhai PATEM, age 36 from Newmarket is charged with: Fraud Over $5000, and Theft Over $5000.

Ashishkumar SAVANI, age 31 from Scarborough is charged with: Fraud Over $5000, Theft Over $5000, Trafficking in Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000, and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime for the Purpose of Trafficking Over $5000.

Bansari SAVANI, age 28 from Scarborough is charged with: Possession of Property Obtained by Crime for the Purpose of Trafficking Over $5000, and Possession of Proceeds of Crime Over $5000.

Yash DHAMELIYA, age 29 from Scarborough is charged with: Possession of Property Obtained by Crime for the Purpose of Trafficking Over $5000.

Janviben DHAMELIYA, age 28 from Scarborough is charged with: Possession of Property Obtained by Crime for the Purpose of Trafficking Over $5000.

All were released on an Undertaking.
