Video – CCI Takes Pride in Helping with Christmas Magic for Over a Decade

In Community, Local

Members of Cobourg Council stopped by Cobourg Collegiate Institute (CCI) on Monday, November 17, 2025 to thank students for their years of support for Christmas Magic.

Deputy Mayor Nicole Beatty and Councillor Aaron Burchat stopped by the construction-technology class of Shawn Davis, which is unofficially known as “Santa’s Workshop.”

The class has partnered with the Town of Cobourg for Christmas Magic for over 10-years helping them out with any of the wood creations for Christmas in Victoria Park, Rotary Harbourfront Park and even the float for the Santa Claus Parade.

“The kids love producing products for the community,” said Davis.

With Christmas being a magical time for people and the community coming together, Davis said students take great pride in their work.

Every November the Town of Cobourg comes up with a plan for what they need and bring those ideas to the class.

The students will come up with the designs and then order the materials.

“Because the turnaround time is so quick, we have to get on it so we are ready.”

“As they grow up into adults, they can remember being a part of that and making Christmas Magic a little more special from CCI.”
