Video – Photo Gallery – Funeral Held in Brighton for Fallen Firefighter

The community of Brighton held a funeral for a fallen firefighter on Saturday, September 6, 2025.

Wayne Newman served his community as a volunteer firefighter for 27-years retiring as Captain.

On Saturday, a procession took place from the Brighton Firehall to the memorial service at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 100 a short distance away.

Northumberland OPP blocked the intersection while three bagpipers lead the procession accompanied by a Brighton pumper, family members and firefighters from across Northumberland County and beyond paying respects to Newman and his family.

Newman worked at Coveright for over 20 years while serving his community as a volunteer firefighter.

He lived a quiet life of quiet strength, integrity and dedication to others papassed away on August 18, 2025 surrounded by his family.
