Belleville Police – Incidents Include Unprovoked Assault, Mischief

Total calls for service – Belleville Police responded to 260 calls for service between 5:00 am on May 30, 2025 to 5:00 am on June 2, 2025.

Unprovoked assault
On the 30th of May at 12:06pm, a woman was walking in the area of Church St and Bridge St E when another woman unknown to her began yelling at her to die and calling her names.

The unknown woman then approached the victim and punched her in the head.

The assault was completely unprovoked.

Police were called and obtained a description of the suspect.

Police attended and located the suspect.

The 40-year-old female of no fixed address was arrested for assault.

During the arrest process, the female began spitting on an officer.

Police attempted to use safety precautions as they were aware the female is a carrier of a communicable disease.

As a result of the incident, the female was charged with assault and assaulting a peace officer.

She was held in custody for a bail hearing.

Mischief
On the 30th of May at 11:30am, a man and woman were involved in a verbal dispute while in the city’s downtown area.

The male became angry and began to damage property owned by the city.

Police received numerous calls about the man actively damaging the property.

Police attended and arrested the 42-year-old male of no fixed address without incident.

He was charged with failing to comply with a Probation Order and mischief over $5000 as the damaged property was valued at over $10,000.

He was held in custody for a bail hearing.

 

Man with baseball bat destroys sign
On the 1st of June at 8:45pm, Belleville Police were called to an east end business near Dundas St. E and Foster Ave regarding a male destroying a large sign with a baseball bat.

Police attended and arrested the male without incident.

As a result of the investigation, Patrick Hillier, 38-years-old of Belleville was charged with mischief over $5000.

He was released on an Undertaking with a court date in July.

Man arrested following disturbance
On the 1st of June at 11:20pm, Belleville Police were called to a residential complex in the city’s east end regarding a disturbance.

Police attended and most of the parties had left.

Police spoke to an involved male who was identified as being on a Released Order and breaching his probation conditions.

As a result, the 32-year-old Kingston man was arrested and charged with breach of Release Order and two counts of breach of probation.

He was held for a bail hearing.
