Total calls for service – Belleville Police responded to 224 calls for service between 5:00 am on April 24, 2025, to 5:00 am on May 26, 2025.
Liquor Licence Control Act
On May 23, 2025, at 9:30am, the Belleville Police were called to a Sidney Street business for an intoxicated individual.
The suspect became irate when he was denied access to the bathroom and threatened to urinate on the floor.
The store staff contacted police wishing to have him removed.
Police located the male outside the business, wandering around in the parking lot.
For his own safety, a 38-year-old Belleville man was arrested for Being Intoxicated in a Public Place contrary to the Liquor License Control Act.
Liquor Licence Control Act
On May 24, 2025, at 2:30am, the Belleville Police were investigating a disturbance at a North Front Street business.
Numerous patrons engaged in a fight out in the parking lot.
While conducting this investigation an extremely intoxicated female was observed on the property.
For her own safety the 35-year-old Belleville woman was arrested on the Liquor License Control Act.
Warrants
On May 24, 2024, at 2:00pm, officers with the Belleville Police Service were conducting general patrol in the area of Dundas Street and Church Street when they observed a suspicious vehicle.
Upon stopping the vehicle, officers identified a male passenger who was found to be wanted on outstanding warrants issued by the Durham Regional Police Service.
The individual, a 25-year-old male from the Durham Region, was taken into custody without incident.
He was transported to the Belleville Police Service and held in custody until members of the Durham Regional Police Service attended to assume responsibility for his return to their jurisdiction.
The Belleville Police Service remains committed to supporting neighbouring police services and ensuring that individuals wanted on warrants are held accountable.
Breach of Probation, Causing a Disturbance
On May 24, 2025, at 7:00pm, officers with the Belleville Police Service responded to Belleville General Hospital regarding a male who refused to leave the premises after being discharged from the emergency department.
The individual, identified as Timothy Hayne, 58 years old, of Strathroy, had been medically cleared and discharged but declined to vacate the hospital. Due to his disruptive and aggressive behaviour, hospital staff were forced to initiate a “Code White,” which is called in response to actual or perceived threats of violence, including combative conduct.
Upon arrival, officers arrested Hayne for causing a disturbance. Further investigation revealed that he was also in breach of a probation order, specifically for failing to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.
Hayne was held in custody and scheduled to appear for a show cause hearing on May 25, 2025.
Public Intoxication – Two Arrests
The Belleville Police responded to two separate incidents involving intoxicated individuals over the weekend, resulting in both being taken into custody for public intoxication.
The first incident occurred at 9:36 pm on May 25, 2025, at a residence on Sidney Street. Officers were called after a 53-year-old male, who was reportedly intoxicated, engaged in a minor physical altercation with family members on the front lawn.
The male was located a short distance from the scene and arrested for being intoxicated in a public place.
Family members declined to lay charges in relation to the altercation.
The male was held in custody until he was able to care for himself.
The second incident took place on May 24, 2025, at approximately 9:21 p.m. in the west hill area of the city.
Belleville Police received a call from Emergency Medical Services (EMS) after a city resident found a female staggering down the street.
EMS cleared the 27-year-old Belleville woman medically but noted she was highly intoxicated.
Officers arrested the female for public intoxication.
She was held in custody until she was sober and able to care for herself.
Warrants
On May 25, 2025, at 6:30pm, the Belleville Police received a report from a female caller stating that her vehicle had been stolen and that she had sustained a lower leg injury.
The caller did not provide further details to police dispatchers.
Due to the reported injury, Emergency Medical Services (EMS) were also dispatched to the scene.
Upon arrival, officers located the complainant and spoke with her regarding the incident.
She advised that, in addition to the vehicle, her house keys and wallet had also been taken.
However, she declined to provide any further information about a possible suspect.
The complainant refused medical attention from EMS.
A short time later, police located the vehicle nearby.
A 27-year-old male from Belleville, identified as the complainant’s partner, was found with the vehicle.
He informed officers that he had taken the car to run a brief errand and intended to return it shortly.
A check of the male revealed that he was wanted on outstanding warrants issued by Belleville Police.
As a result, Tristen Peacock was arrested and later released with a court appearance scheduled for July.
The complainant did not want any charges in relation to her vehicle being taken.
Assault
On May 25, 2025, at 9:00pm, the Belleville Police Service received a report of an assault involving a 13-year-old child.
It was reported that a 38-year-old male had struck the child with a TV stand.
Officers promptly attended the residence, where they found that the child’s mother had separated all involved parties and de-escalated the situation prior to police arrival.
An initial assessment of the child revealed a minor injury that did not require medical attention.
As a result of the investigation, the male was arrested for assault and transported to the Belleville Police Service.
He was later released on an Officer in Charge Undertaking with conditions, including a scheduled court appearance in June.
The name of the accused is not being released to protect the identity of the youth involved.
