In Photo Gallery, Police Blotter

Peter Street in Port Hope was shut down for several hours after a pickup truck struck a hydro pole.

The collision happened at approximately 12:45 p.m. in front of Tim Hortons.

A tow truck operator who witnessed the collision helped the lone occupant from the pickup truck because of the threat of the wires falling.

Emergency crews arrived on scene and the roadway was blocked for several hours.

Power was out in a number of businesses.

The driver was charged with careless driving.
